The Miracle Mile is known for being a pedestrian-friendly shopping district, with a wide variety of specialty shops and services, between Castle Street and Harding Way on Pacific Avenue.

In an effort to maintain and enhance the area, business and property owners formed the Miracle Mile Improvement Association (MMIA). The MMIA provides a unified voice for the area's business and property owners.

The City has historically assisted the MMIA’s efforts to enhance the area. Past improvements have included the change from parallel to angle parking along Pacific Avenue, painting streetlight poles, elimination of parking meters, and parking lot improvements.

A majority of the projects were funded in part by the MMIA’s business license levy. In March 2000, the MMIA, the American Planning Association, and City staff conducted meetings to identify potential areas for further improvement and beautification along the Miracle Mile.

As a result, a “vision” was developed that included key components such as developing a “small town” atmosphere, enhancing the pedestrian environment by inclusion of bench seating and public art, consistent landscaping, replacing damaged sidewalks, and making the area more accessible to the handicapped.

As much of the work has been completed, all of Stockton is looking forward to witnessing an exciting "re-birth" of the Miracle Mile in 2005.

We will hope you join us this year and make the Miracle Mile a wonderful place to shop, dine and be entertain in this new and revitalized Stockton, California!
